Living Through The Heart

Posted on Sep 26th, 2006 by Sevara : yoga - music - healing - wisdom Sevara

Student: To me, life is bored because I have no goals or big dream in my life. Therefore, there is nothing interesting about me. I live for family and friends. I CAN LIVE W/OUT LOVE, NO PROBLEMS TO ME. Sevara: Dear V...I can understand your statement about living life without goals or big dreams, but to say "life is bored" I cannot understand. The contadiction in your statement if you can truly live life without goals you actually can begin to embrace life, because it is the very pursuit of goals that keeps you from living in the moment. Goals and dreams are of the future and are not tangible; tomorrow may never come and your goal will never be realized. Thus people who waste their time dreaming about a better tomorrow never fully enjoy the here-now. Therefore, by not having any "big dream" you are actually ahead in this game of life. So, the problem is that you are not embracing each moment, which leads to your next comment... Next you stated "I can live without love". And I ask you, you may be able to live without love, but do you want to? To say you can live without love is to go through life as a corpse. To love means to live life through the heart. And living through the heart means we are open to experiencing all its hurt, all its sorrow, all its misery...but it also means to experience all its depth, all its passion, all its compassion...To live through the heart takes courage becuase at one moment you can be at the height of ecstacy and in the next drowning in a river of tears. But this is the only way to see beauty and when you are ready to put behind your fears and live life through the heart, you will experience the miracle and benediction of life. Blessings, Sevara

Attracting Better People Into Your life

Posted on Aug 31st, 2006 by Sevara : yoga - music - healing - wisdom Sevara

Question:
Sevaraji, I want to attract better people into my life. How can I do this?

Answer: First I ask you, what are you giving? What is it that YOU offer? Your consciousness, your energy, will determine what you get back. Are you are an angry person? That is what you will get from others. Even if the other isn’t naturally an angry person, your negativity will actually draw out that aspect of the other person. As I’m sure you have experienced, it is very hard to stay levelheaded when someone is shouting in your face. So, again I ask, what are you giving?

If you want a deep, lasting relationship, what have you done to cultivate this within yourself? Did you stay home and curl up with a nice book, or did you go out and party all night? Did you enjoy a cup of green tea or did you have a few too many beers? Is your speech thoughtful and caring, or is it rough and crude? Do you see? It is all about choices…it is all about cultivation your inner-beauty.

Yes, you can go to the bar and find someone to take home, but that has no depth to it…it has no poetry. One day you may want to find real love. But having a loving relationship means YOU have to be loving - not just superficially loving - but truly having the capacity to love yourself. It becomes difficult for a person who hasn't gone to the depths of themselves to get out of a superficial life, where they are wrapped up in the drama of day to day living, going from one short-lived pleasure to another trying to find happiness the wrong way.

It is hard for some people to imagine that life can be joyful and lived to the fullest without the opposite sex lusting after them, or going to all night parties, or indulging in intoxicants. Many people are addicted to the little highs they get from these things...but these highs don't last, so they go on searching for the next high...and the next high. Each of these highs takes them further and further from their true selves. One day we wake up and we are no longer young and no longer beautiful....so many years wasted chasing after spurious pleasure that we no longer know how to enjoy the simple thing in life.

Instead, seek the company of people who resonate with love, compassion, truth, dignity. You will recognize these people when you encounter them. Your being moves into their energy, or rather their energy moves into your being…because your body was thirsting, thirsty for tranquility, thirsty for love… and they are overflowing, enough that you may drink of their peace. In their presence you begin to relax, emotionally and physically. No words need even be exchanged…the exchange occurs on another level.

Look into your own eyes. Do you see your vibrancy, can you feel your inner light? You have more to offer in this life than just your outer-beauty. You can ascend to such inner-beauty and bring so much to this world. But can you escape the trap you have created for yourself? If you can escape this Maya, the whole benediction of existence reveals itself before you. This is the Great Secret.

Do We Create Our Own Luck?

Posted on Aug 29th, 2006 by Sevara : yoga - music - healing - wisdom Sevara

Student:
Sevaraji, Do we create our own luck?

Sevara:  Yes, but I don't call it luck. Karma is a better word.  You can also call it Dharma if you are in harmony with yourself, others, and your surroundings. The closer you are to walking the Dharmic Path, in other words, spiritually connected to the Great Oneness or Divine Source or whatever you wish to call the Nameless, and the more you resonate with love, joy, and peace, the more ability you will have to control and shape circumstances and the more the Universe guides you towards "good luck". The opposite also occurs. When one is devoid of the Mind, Body, Spirit connection and is ruled not by consciousness but by uncontrolled thoughts and desires one will repeatedly be victim of negative Karma accumulated in this life and past lives.

However, there can be times when the above is overriden by another more powerful source - be it positively or negatively. A guru or enlightened entity/being can assist in raising your consciousness and help you to erase your Karma. This is the power of prayer. When you pray with deep sincerity from your heart you can create a dynamic link to Universal Consciousness. This has the power to create miracles. Likewise, negative beings and things, such as drugs and alcohol, can lower your vibration and can steer you away from the Dharmic Path, and lead you to what appears to be "bad luck".

This is why it is essential to not indulge in intoxicants, things that pollute the body, negative thoughts and speech about the self or others, etc. Surround yourself, your mind and your spirit with good things, good people...fill your heart with love and joy...forgive others, love others, trust others, even if they don't offer equally the same to you and you will find that you will naturally attract good things into your life.

You Are Your Own Guru

Posted on Aug 24th, 2006 by Sevara : yoga - music - healing - wisdom Sevara
Guru means "that which brings dark to light". You are this. Within you is all the wisdom you will ever need. Just as a drop of the ocean contains the entire sea, when you were born you were born with all the wisdom of the Universe in every cell of your body. Have you ever - ever - told a lie and not known you were lying? Have you ever stolen something and not known you were stealing? I'm not passing judgement on lying or stealing. Those are man-made laws and only you know if your actions are true to you. But each of us know when we are acting in accordance with Spiritual Laws and each of us know when we are not.

The whole point is to be true unto thyself - and to think for your Self. Stop relying on others to make decisions for you. Don't let the government, television, parents, teachers, preachers tell you who to be. Start taking responsibility for who you are and stop blaming others. Blame does not absolve you of your mistakes and shortcoming. Blaming others does not make your wrong right. Start living YOUR TRUTH.

When you start taking responsibility for your life, you can begin the steps towards Self Mastery. Self Mastery in nothing more than being true to your Self, being able to speak your Truth, and having the fortitude to choose Truth when untruth seems easier. When you can guide your Self in these ways, you have become your own Guru.

Sat Nam,

Sevara

On Sex

Posted on Aug 23rd, 2006 by Sevara : yoga - music - healing - wisdom Sevara

So you enjoy sex, so what?! It is the very attempt to repress sex that is causing your problem. Let go of the guilt, let go of the conditioning that has lead you to fear it, and any negative past experiences that may be lingering. Re-think sex as beautiful. Perhaps due to the repression it has become somewhat "perverted" and thus it makes you feel like your thoughts are "dirty". But if you get back to the purity of sex you will drop the guilt.

Think of sex as an exchange, which is a natural cosmic, life affirming action. The Universe does it every second! Without the continuous interchange between yin and yang nothing in the Universe could exist. So remember this. Let your sex be about energy, let sex become meditation. Flow, dance, mingle, and exchange joyfully with your partner. Rejoice in the act!

If you are with a male, breathe in his yang energy, and let him partake of your yin. If at first this seems difficult, imagine it. Consider it a meditation. Go through the visualization of making love with your partner, but really try to feel the love deeply. Imagine both of you are two swirling spheres of energy and image his/her energy penetrating your energy. As this happens visualize your energy field changes color. Feel uplifted, resonate with love and joy.

Again, please do not feel that your thoughts are bad and please do not feel guilty. But feel free, if you wish, to try to move your sex to a higher vibration. There is nothing wrong with trying to bring all our thoughts and actions, whether they be about sex, work, helping others, to a higher level. This goal is what transforms us and allows us to live life with dignity and merge with divinity.

Blessings,

Sevara

'Life is meaningless" from Discourses On Existence

Posted on Aug 22nd, 2006 by Sevara : yoga - music - healing - wisdom Sevara
Is there a point to the universe? What is the meaning of life? Many theolgists, saints, holy men will tell you there is meaning to life. There is no meaning - life just is. "Meaning" is a construct of the mind. It is the ego yearning to be greater than it already believes itself to be. It fulfills the same need as someone's wish to be rich, or famous. There is no difference. The world will keep turning and existence will keep existing even if you were never born.

However, you do exist and you are alive. So what to do with this meaningless, pointless life? It is simple: make your life a paradise, an oasis that others may quench their thirst by drinking of your love. Recognize that you are a consciousness. And because you are conscious recognize that through your actions you may help or hurt others. The Universal Law is that the Mind-Body-Spirit flowers with love and kindness. So from a scientific approach, to survive we need love and we need to give love. This is the basic science of survival. You can see the necessity of this natural mechanism in newborn babies. A baby if it is denied the tenderness of touch will have developmental problems and may even die. But this carries on into adulthood too. So many people here did not have parents that showed them enough affection. Hence, so many people suffering from diseases and depression.

Imagine a world of trully loving people; humanity not afraid to be touched, not afraid to love deeply. It is those who have not experienced the true depth of love and intimacy that don't have problems dropping bombs on innocent victims. It is for this reason that we must as a race become more loving - especially in these times of war.

As you become more loving and open your heart chakra you will experience better health, open yourself up to greater spiritual experiences, see the benediction of life. And just as importantly, others will be elevated in your presence.
